ABOUT NALT

Nigerian Association of Law Teachers

NALT is a non-profit and non-political organization and an umbrella body for all law teachers in approved institutions teaching and researching in the area of law, in Nigeria, do solemnly resolve to provide for ourselves a constitution and to be governed by the provisions herein contained.

Our Focus

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • a) The advancement of legal education, as well as legal research and legal scholarship and of the work and the interests of teachers, legal researchers and legal scholars in Nigeria;
  • b) The organisation, promotion and delivery of conferences, seminars and other events promoting the objects of the Association. Such events include symposia, seminars, study groups and similar activities for law teachers in Nigeria in order to enable them to discuss matters of common interest among themselves and with law teachers from countries outside Nigeria;
  • c) The representation of the Association at conferences, seminars and other events;
  • d) The representation of the Association through membership of and liaison with other organisations with related objects;
  • e) To maintain, manage and control the website of the Association by regular and constant update of Association's activities, research and members' profiles;
  • f) The exchange of teaching and research materials and of students and staff, and by giving support for the establishment of one place of common facilities for post-graduate legal studies and by other means; to encourage co-operation among institutions teaching and conducting research in law in Nigeria with the aim of achieving the standards required and expected of institutions of the highest standing and of promoting the advancement of legal education in Nigeria;
  • g) To co-operate in publishing and securing the publication of the Nigerian Law Reports of conferences and similar activities; results of research and works of legal scholars;
  • h) To protect and advance the interests of law teachers in Nigeria;
  • i) To co-operate with international legal academic bodies and similar bodies in Nigeria;
  • j) To be eligible for membership of any other association whose objects are similar, either in whole or in part, to the objects of the Association;
  • k) Promotion and organisation of merit-based competitions related to the objects of the Association;
  • l) To conduct research, surveys, analysis, studies and similar activities on behalf of governmental and non-governmental bodies;
  • m) To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects of the Association; and
  • n) To do all things that are consequential upon the attainment of the above objects.
